On July 1, 2017 CEO of transeuro, inc. , Yuki Kato, was appointed as a member of the board of directors of the “Nippon Intellectual Property Translation Association” (NIPTA).

NIPTA is a Japanese NPO and the only organization in Japan that issues certificates for translators of Intellectual Property documents (patents, utility models, etc.).

NIPTA offers exams for patent translation in three levels of difficulty for English to Japanese and Japanese to English translations. Exams for German and Chinese are available since 2017 in one difficulty and are going to be expanded in the future.

The exams cover several technical fields, i.e. electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, and chemistry.

Furthermore, NIPTA issues the Nippon Intellectual Property Translation Journal every month. It contains articles about Intellectual Property translation with translation examples written by experienced patent translators. Several articles of Mr. Kato have been published in previous issues already.

As a member of the board of directors, Mr. Kato and will now be working on future exam questions.
